Sand eels are the primary diet for many of our sea bird species including the iconic Puffin, over fishing and climate change has reduced their numbers so any policy to reverse should be welcomed.

6/ tl;dr on the process: according to Article 745 of the Brexit deal, the final arbitration decision is due end of February, with a possibility to extend to the end of March

7/ IF the UK lost it would have a reasonable time to comply. The Brexit deal sets out how to determine how long that period is exactly.

Steve, I know you’re looking at this from the perspective of how the TCA arbitration mechanism functions but, I hate to say it, the EU is entirely wrong on this. What an issue to take a stand on - contrary to its commitments on restoring marine ecosystems.

I think fishing sand eels is wrong. Humans can eat other stuff but this is vital to the survival of puffins. The EU is in the wrong on this morally.

It's not humans eating, it's humans eating the pigs that are eating. I find it hard to believe that there isn't an alternative.
