No joke, that's a part of my "that day" experience....
In northern BK, heard lotsa sirens through my open window around 9am
I turned on my window fan for white noise and went back to sleep, only to wake up 'cuz the phone kept ringing
was in the village, got woken up by a phone call after the first tower was hit. immediately walked downstairs during which time 2nd tower was hit. watched them both turn into smoke from washington square park. immediately went home and took a panic nap.
What an imaginative riff on The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas--to live in the greatest city on earth you just have to accept a major terrorist attack from time to time.
I feel like punctuation or grammar is making it sound like a plane is wrecking some dude starting a business, and a building, instead of two separate events?
His choices are a bizarre contrast in scope more than anything though... like, "perhaps I'll pet a cat today, or perhaps I'll poison the water supply of the East Coast. One or the other, haven't decided which yet."
One Time I was at inner-city bus , train station near dawn,& this huge burly black crackhead wearing a Donald Duck T-shirt 5 sizes too small, snuck up behind me, ( crackheads be stealthy) threw his arms fully around me, lifted me, giving
me the sweetest, most gentle surprise hug.
(I didn't even yell at Him. I figured this was already the best of all possible outcomes.). He was way too high for me understand his explanation why he thought I was a teddy 🧸.
Adams is such a weirdo that would be so funny if he wasn't a politician.
I mean it's still an objectively insane and hilarious statement, but it's different hearing this shit from the mayor of New York vs if he was your weird coworker who makes knives as a hobby.
it's a very Trump-style statement, like all of a sudden going off on how no other city could've had a big as 9/11 as New York did, and the crowd momentarily befuddled before choosing to hoot & holler anyway
No
He did not actually say this
This New Yorker wants to believe the current mayor of NYC would not say something as glib as this about the worst day in this city and country's history
But this New Yorker is aware it's likely true

🎵 "New York, New York!
It's a wonderful town:
The Bronx is up,
And the Towers are down.
Hey: remember that big
smoking hole in the ground...?
New York, New York!
It's a helluva town!"
😡
Another Day in New York, the smell of freshly cooked Bagels in the Deli, the Cry of Newsies as they sell their Papes on the Corner, the roar of an airliner as it crahes into a skyscraper. The Big Apple!
the way this is phrased it sounds like he means the plane has to crash through the person celebrating a new business opening (?) before getting to "our Trade Center"
a have a certain person in mind that I would like to see a plane crash through and I'm not making names but he used to be a cop and now he kinda runs all the cops
I like how, at a sentence level, what he said suggests that the plane will first crash through the person celebrating opening a new business and THEN into a trade center.
Thing to remember is he's a cop. 9/11 rang the bell for them to start slopping it up at the trough and got the NYPD a bigger budget than most nation's militaries. He's gotta pretend not to celebrate it, but he's a bad liar

He probably gave the NYPD money specifically to hunt Smurfs.
you can't "experience" a person.
me the sweetest, most gentle surprise hug.
Crackheads: 1; Eric Adams: 0
and Speaking for ALL of them,
They need to Hear it. Keep telling them.

Moah cops, moah cops…
Na ja, once a cop, always a cop…
Man hoffte insgeheim, er würde im Amt wachsen; vergebene Hoffnung.
