This is a bold claim but she might be the best thing about it, followed by Oldman and the viewpoint character being completely inept at everything but running really fast, in that order.
My favorite show of the last several years!! I'm not sure which character is my favorite, but S3 definitely gets my vote for favorite season. Pretty much each member of the team had at least a few minutes to shine. #SlowHorses
This series subtly promotes white supremecy through its centre staging of white characters and marginalising of black and minority actors. Pls try enjoying alternative options.
Such a great show, it needs WAY more Jackson Lamb, but I think that might be defeating the purpose. Maybe what's so good about it is that Gary Oldman just shows up, fucking roasts everyone for 30 seconds, and then disappears again for a while.
You've been missing out! The series is amazing and the books are better. A happy discovery in a charity shop five years ago that just keeps on giving. Welcome to the fold!
Tbh, I rushed through them so fast one after the other that I’m not sure I could tell you the plot of the 5th book without looking it up. I had already read the 4th book before S4 aired, and I don’t think it affected my enjoyment of the show one way or the other.
The night the first episode aired, there was some woman on Twitter declaring in earnest that the UK security forces need a serious review. I tried to explain to her it's a comedy.
Slow Horses is amazing! It is a show that has given power back to the underdogs and those that have been dismissed by the main stream of society! The best part these misfits come together to support each other and most the time they end up saving the day!
It’s soooooo good.
Gary Oldman is legend.
I love the plot lines and the petty politics, makes it this hybrid of absurdist and very real that amps it up.
I think if you got an Amazon Fire Stick you could install the Apple TV app on it. Other alternatives are an Apple TV 4K box, or connect an old mini PC/NUC (if you have one) to your TV via HDMI. For the later you'll need some kind of wireless keyboard & mouse/trackpad to control it.
I have an Apple TV box and that's pretty much the entertainment hub. Proper streaming services are all run from there. I also have an old Mac Mini (running Ubuntu Linux now) that I use to play all the stuff that the Apple TV won't handle, and use a cheap wireless Logitech keyboard/track pad with it.
Hope you enjoy it! I love this show and the performances.
One of my fav tv/movie podcasts had a solid episode about it.
I don’t recall if there are spoilers but it’s worth listening to after you’re caught up.
Amazing series. S2 (I think?) got a bit gun-fighty-explosiony at the end which pissed me off a bit, but for back in track immediately. GO and KST are incredible actors…
Definitely dominated by Oldman. Highly recommend his work in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy also Darkest Hour (Churchill) and Oppenheimer (small part). KST played Churchill's wife in Darkest Hour - the energy with Oldman was brilliant.
If you want real whiplash - watch Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy after watching Slow Horses. Both amazing watches but the performances from Oldman are so different.

Him: gross, farts
Second fave show after Silo.
I hate voiceovers but tolerate it with Bad Monkey since the story line and characters are so good.
Latest season was weakest but legit strong
And that is saying A LOT - coming from me
I absolutely adore the guy ever since I was a kid and I watched Leon 🤩
The books are fun reads. Quick reads, but not dumb quick. Smart, fun quick.

Oldman is pure perfection in this role.
I won’t spoil anything except River wears a long coat in one of the seasons and I bought a similar coat and my wife gives me the evil eye. Sigh.
All seasons deliver.
On streaming by a mile.

Finished that and found "Severance." Another truly excellent series.
loooooong while. I predict you will enjoy it immensely.
Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy is just such a remarkably understated performance. He does a remarkably good Alec Guinness impersonation.
