Ultimately, should I strive to become "real," or should I learn to accept myself as the "fake" I currently am? Grappling with this question might be my greatest challenge at the moment.

You are real to me TBH. Struggling with numbers is something we suffer since a long time now and its deeply rooted in us. But nevertheless, you can feel fake and be real. 🫂
I don't think there's anything wrong with those feelings. When artists make something it's reasonable to want others to see it and it's a bit disheartening when it doesn't connect with as many people. Social media definitely skews our perspective on these things though.
You're taking it a bit far on what is "a real artist", an artist wants people to see his work, so there's nothing wrong if you feel good when you see a lot of reactions on your art, the point is, even if you dont receive a lot of reactions, you should keep doing what you love.
you are not alone. Many of us feel this way and all we can do is trust thouse that suport and tell us that we are "real".
To me you are real and great artist

I would say, do not accept the feeling of being fake, but do not strive for what is undefined either.
I am far behind you in terms of skill, but I don't take it as a failing, because I accept what simply is.
You can do the same.
To me you are real and great artist
