Losing to the Braves is so embarrassing. Getting four-hit while surrounded by He Gets Us signage in the middle of a fancy mall. All the home fans leave and get into the cleanest trucks imaginable and drive 61 miles further away from Atlanta.

Mets always look so uncomfortable and uptight down there and I guess if I were surrounded by a bunch of people joyously doing a weird racist chant every time something fun happened I’d be uncomfortable too
Fucking Braves. I will never, ever forgive Greg Maddux for being exactly the type of pitcher during his tenure with them that my dumb little 10-year-old brain would glom onto and never let go of
Another reason the Braves suck is that they gave America John Smoltz, prominent national broadcaster for big important baseball games and worlds no. 1 hater of baseball
I don't know dude, did you hear him make fun of Jeff Francoeur for swinging at literally anything no matter how bad it was, while announcing a playoff series with Jeff Francoeur?
Night games always looks weird on TV in that stadium. Even though there are thousands of people there it feels like they're playing under the glow of the signage at an empty 7-11 in the middle of the night.
I've noticed many times that the stadium can be packed to the gills but something about the seat spacing and the handrail angles make it still look like nobody is there
it's loud as all fuck in there when things get rolling, so it's all good I guess
He rocks, and it's cool that they still have him doing it. I wrote a story about him for Wired a million years ago that I am certain is not available online anymore, but he seemed like a very cool guy.
The announcers giggle about his song choices every game. (I had to Google the "Big Me – Vientos" thing to remember the Big Me video was a Mentos parody.)
It's so nice to have a wholesome use of the stadium PA that I can love and not want to hide in shame.
You're right, it just doesn't help that Atlanta is the holdout on the naming. Plus our government doesn't do any favors with public perception of the state.
my whole deal is that the Braves are the only institution that I have left in my life that links me to my childhood. Does the name suck? Yeah, but it's not my fault and it's not the average fan's fault. I can't give up 40+ years of memories of Murph and Chipper and Ronald bc the internet says so
I've filled out season ticket holder surveys and told them to knock off the chop and I refuse to participate. And the chop is way less prevalent now! Which is good, baby steps
I don't even remember learning how to play baseball, it's like I always knew. And the Braves were always my team
I’m in a similar boat. Hate the chop, would love a name change (Hammers!), and really, really despise how the white flight stadium was built. But what am I supposed to do — be a Diamondbacks fan just because I happened to live in Phoenix for a while? Let’s be real.
I'm pretty annoyed that that's now where the Roxy venue is, I've skipped a show or two just to not deal with the drive and the parking when the time came. Just over the line into Cobb right near a LOT of money in northwest Fulton. Lots of ridiculous monster SUVs around there. Old and new money.
p.s. My 7th grade English teacher got me into the Mets, and it just happened to be 1986. That cemented it. That was in south Florida. I moved up to Atlanta in '91 as the Braves got good, but couldn't close the deal. I gave up on them a few years later. But my heart is still at Shea. #LGM
I mean, yeah. But I love them as a 90’s TBS watcher on the other side of the country. I recognize and accept the shitty nature of the fandom, even as the chop is embarrassingly racist and the locals are awful.
But they got fun guys and this year the injuries were insane. So, in summary Chipper

if you go to the game and have a miserable time, you may roundly mock me online.
