Common questions I have been answering about my basic message about the vaccine boosters (https://bsky.app/profile/rahaeli.bsky.social/post/3ljaubcgjrk2z) collected into one thread, with answers:

The tl;dr 1-post summary: Get your MMR titers checked or a booster shot if you were born 1957-1989. Get a Tdap booster if it's been more than 5 years since your last one. (The CDC says 10 years; the CDC is wrong.)

Short answer: if you were born 1957-1989, the answer is "probably". Here's the breakdown:
🔘 If you were born between 1957 and 1968, you were vaccinated with the "first draft" of the measles vaccine. Don't bother with getting a blood test to check your immunity: get a single booster if you haven't had one since 1968.
People vaccinated before 1968 got the first version of MMR, which was an inactivated-virus vaccine that is less effective over time and wears off people more often. You still may be a little protected, but it's not guaranteed. Just get a booster.
A second dose of MMR was added to the schedule in 1987 for 2-year-olds, and people who were older than 2 may not have gotten that second dose, especially if you never went to college. The second dose adds a very critical few percentage points of vaccine effectiveness (VE).
Context: the "sporadic" healthcare mentioned above + missing records.
(But I had my doc check my titers last year when you mentioned this, and I'm good!)
found out I good for mumps and rubella but had ZERO immunity to measles. got a booster but i haven’t re-titered. i’ll add that to the to do list.
My attitude is 'give me all the shots!'
Vaccines for these came in later in Europe and I had all 3 as a kid (well, mumps as a teen.) Should I look into a booster?
I'm trying to get a titer draw this coming week. If it's delayed, should I get a TDaP, or wait for the titer to be drawn? (I'm hyper-immune. So TDaP may stir things up.)
One at a few months, one at 2, one at 6 and then 15.
I think my parents were being over cautious or some records got lost.
Not sure ;_;
