That gets at the heart of it, which is the same image can be described a billion different ways *in context* and you don't need to describe everything down to the fibers in the clothes someone is wearing, you can just focus on the relevant bits.

That doesn't apply to every genre of image (it doesn't do you much good with landscapes, for instance) but it's a good way to start breaking down how you think about it. I find it a fun writing challenge to narrow down what I'm trying to communicate with an image!
(One note on that: I reference "blank alt text" in a few places, but that's for a web page, and it's discussed in the workshop a few times. On Bluesky, "blank alt text" means something else, so don't pay attention to that part!)
