Its been over twenty years and we still cant properly emulate conkers bad fur day. I was trying to find good screencaps of the game and the lighting was completely wrong in every single image. I guess thats a testament to both how technically impressive conker is and how bad n64 emulation is. - ThreadSky

pj64 is mainly still used for certain sm64 hacks that rely on old bugs/plugins, for future reference though !! I generally check this wiki for anything emulation-related :)

I'd say the stigma of N64 emulation comes down to the popularity of project 64.

feel like the N64 more than a lot of other consoles relied on studios creating weird jerryrig solutions to doing certain things on a case-by-case basis making it hard for emulation to cover everything in every game

From what Ive seen of it it runs it way better than project 64 (it actually looks really close to when Ive played it on an actual n64) but apparently theres still some graphical glitches in places. (I havent tried it for myself though, Im just going off github posts)

I would recommend it! Discovering it reignited my passion for N64 games, which I hadn't played in years because I really disliked Project64's lackluster emulation

Glitches can happen but it's also very active in development so it can always be fixed!

It’s easier to outright decompile N64 games than emulate them. Really says something!
