I *do* remember people having polio among my peers. It's not been gone that long. Mass vaccinations started only in 1957 in Western Germany and it took years to eradicate it
I remember the slogan: "Schluckimpfung ist süß, Kinderlähmung ist grausam": "Vaccination is sweet, Polio is horrible". The vaccine was taken orally at that time.

Nope. But my Aunt did and ended up in a wheelchair. My Father and her (his sister) travelled to Canada’s capital (Ottawa)in the 50s via train (3300 kilometres) and spoke before Canadas parliament regarding disability pensions for people disabled by polio.
I knew people who had polio. Our good friend Gladys was in a wheelchair most of her life.
I remember seeing rows of iron lungs on television.
Polio is a hideous disease
I remember that time a criminal Whitehouse occupant called Covid a hoax before it killed millions. And now bird flu has hopped to humans just as a vaccine denier takes charge of our Nation’s health. What could possibly go wrong again m? 🧐🤬
My mother was born in 1941, well prior to many modern vaccines. She talks of the absolute terror that polio caused and the destruction of young lives from this terrible disease. She also made ABSOLUTELY SURE that me and my siblings were vaccinated for everything available.
beware, @on.orken3.bsky.social thinks queer people are mentally ill, thinks nazis are sane and rational, and routinely spreads pro-putin propaganda. please just block him and move on.

She emphatically said, "No."
She was asked about the polio vaccine due to recent media coverage.
The woman replied, "I will have to think about that. I don't know anyone who has polio."
They live among us!🙄
