The article is about an org, Mamatoto in D.C. And Diamonds for Doulas is in West Alabama? Where is the home visit program that you’re starting going to the located??
In Tuscaloosa Alabama. Diamonds for Doulas was given the go ahead to test a pilot here locally and will be working with our patients who want to participate. Our clinic overall serves Medicaid and uninsured patients and our pool is about 75% Black and 80% below the poverty line.
Yes my friend is doing work in Athens GA. They had one Black woman OBGYN. She was almost exclusively accepting Medicaid patients but stopped bc she couldn’t sustain her practice. She now only accepts about 20%. It’s a bad situation.
Oh for sure. That’s why 75% of our income comes from donations and grants. Alabama won’t even reimburse our Medicaid even though we are registered providers with the program because we don’t deliver. Almost all of our services are free.
