Thin-sliced grey meat in watery "gravy" was much nastier though. (At least you could get the skin of the rice pudding by cutting around the edges and levering the top off.)
The smells of waxed linoleum and Banda[1] fluid... they don't make nostalgia like that any more.

Those were the days!
Thankfully its been discontinued now, since it's waterproof, damned near indestructible, and clogs pipes and the machinery at (modern) sewage works.
The military stuff had "Government Property" printed on alternate sheets.
