Similar to typical classroom walkthroughs, I had my own version that was a Google Form I could easily do on my phone. I adjusted it over time, but I used it to do quick data gathering on how tech was being used, aligned with blended learning best practices and ISTE student standards.

I started to build out spreadsheets to look for correlation in trends between classroom level data and my walkthrough data, but at that point I was moved to a different position. I would love to revisit the idea though!

I had not thought about it this way before. I work on the software side of this equation. Id never thought about usage data as being useful for a coach to document growth with their teachers. Makes me wonder how we might make that data more accessible to the people who need it.

Setting up something like Clever Badges can be super helpful with this. Their dashboard provides great usage stats that can inform where more PD is needed, implementation rates, budget allocations, etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8MmCQ9oj0s

Ty! Have you found a good way to collect data on how coaching is impacting things like instructional design or student learning? I know usage is a piece of the puzzle. But I'm also curious how we can collect data beyond that in a way that gets at the "effective" part of technology integration.

Oh no, I'm so sorry! Honestly, that's part of why I'm trying to research this. These roles often seem undervalued and/or misunderstood. I have a chance to hire coaches and build a team, and I want to make sure we're regularly sharing data with people who make decisions about which roles to keep.

Hey Roxi! We use Connecthub to track how frequently we work with each teacher/building. It also allows us to use tags to associate specific tools with each coaching contact.

I serve on a team supporting 3 K-12 campuses. We are teachers but part of IT and report to a manager. We provide data quarterly on number & type of projects/support provided and manager meets reg w/campus leadership. Biggest indicators of impact is how much teachers trust us and how busy we are 😀

Also, I think it's really interesting how some tech coaches are housed in IT while others are housed in the curriculum side of the house. I'd love to know if/how that impacts the work coaches do or the impact they have. It seems pretty evenly divided in the districts across my state. #EduCoach

I love being part of IT as I see us as the bridge between the IT and ED sides of our org. We help each group understand the why of decisions the other makes. It can be frustrating but also rewarding. Key is having teachers in the role. Also keeps rogue Edadmin from co-opting the position

We have started using a program called Teachboost. It tracks all sorts of things, syncs with our calendar and puts our data into clear visuals and a dashboard. We can add coaching goal info, coaching cycles and every other task. It's a great way to track how we spend our time and our impact.

Not directly. We could add information in notes or add attachments to coaching cycles or goals we are working on, but nothing is connected student data
