Every time I describe to people around me word-for-word examples of the delusional anti-intellectual attitudes most of you have adopted and parrot without question, they always react with the same combination of disbelief, horror and disgust.

It’s hilarious because when I tell you about perspectives and concepts that are basic common sense (or at least pretty readily understood when explained) over here, YOU’RE intensely uncomfortable.
Though in your case the response seems rooted more in personal fear and shame than in disbelief.
Because if you Genuinely did not perceive the things I said to be true, I know you would jump in trying to make some snooty passive-aggressive putdown.
When you can’t deny someone is right, but what they say doesn’t reinforce your belief in your own moral superiority, you can only stay silent.
Meanwhile when I explain to people around me an unfamiliar concept/perspective that goes against their prior assumptions but is true, I find most can handle it.
They say they never thought about it before—but they have a baseline ability to logically assess ideas and see that they are legitimate.
