In the US, breed standard is to not have the tail. While some can be born with a bobbed tail, most puppies have their tail removed at a few days old.
There are some arguments that it makes it safer for herding to not have it.
Since I had no plans to show or work her, I saw no reason to remove it.

Also, the argument for herding is bullshit because it actually impairs their sense of balance, social interaction among other things.

It's mutilation, however people dress it up.
