I mean I feel like brainrot has changed meaning over time…….. When I started saying it I used it as a synonym for like being at the peak of a hyperfixation/obsession lol （then out of nowhere it got connected to gen alpha and YouTube shorts and stuff)

I thought it was always a term to describe someone who needs to touch grass, whether a Gen Xer who has started to treat the real world like a Disney Channel TV show, or a Zoomer acting like they can Garrysmod collision on produce in walmart

It's probably both depending on the context lol (it just became jarring to me when it suddenly became centered around Gen alpha slang)
