This is so dumb lol. Seventh inning team swap... Teams can choose any player from the opposing team's dugout to come and play for them ...IF and only IF they wear backwards hats... wtf lol
Is there an edit in this video between the umpire's signal and the graphic coming up? I've been part of this process at the AAA level and even compared to how quickly we've gotten it up on broadcast + video board, this seems astonishingly fast.
Two versions of this have been tested at the minor league level - one where all calls are determined by ABS, and the challenge version seen here. Umpires and players both preferred this version - maintains an "imperfect" zone that everyone's gotten a feel for but allows for some corrections.
Speakng for myself: It adds a new strategic layer to the game. And since challenges are initiated by players, it's a way to reward the guys with a good eye.
I find it way more fun to watch than an ump parroting what a computer told them.
Exactly. An outstanding game by an ump could hit 98% accuracy and still substantially swing the game in one team's favor. The difference between 3-1 and 2-2 is massive, especially in key at-bats.
