I have probably travelled on that exact aircraft a few times! They are amazing. Speculation says that a freak gust of wind flipped it during landing, but that doesn't explain why emerg vehicles were in attendance before touchdown.

...make the radars or planes or whatever stop working by Monday. The effects will take time to manifest themselves, and it'll start slowly, then pick up speed. And this presumes no action by airlines, airports, etc, like the privatization of ATC into a private non-profit utility like NavCanada.

The likely reason why there were no fatalities would be safety features, like seatbelts and FAs. Also, Canada isn’t the USA, we have our own agency called NavCan responsible for our airspace and airports. It was a gusty day after a week of winter storms and a slight crosswind, bad bounce and luck.

you’re jumping the gun Stern. Don’t be MAGA. Toronto was in the middle of a snowstorm with snowy runways & gusting winds. 79 people walked off the plane with only 18 people injured (unfortunately one was carried off critically injured) & I would say that’s pretty fucking incredible.

No argument for me in that regard I am in total agreement. I just don’t like using the same techniques that the Nazis use. Toronto’s runway runs northwest the southeast if the wind is blowing from the west, it’s a cross wind landing. Maybe they should’ve gone around. Who knows at this point.
