The problem is in 99% of the cases not the simple password but the ignorant developer who stores the unsalted passwords with an easily crackable hash algorithm (if hashed at all).

You can beat complexity with length.
String together 4 random words separated with space if the lack of extra characters is allowed.
"donkey orange stinking incompetent" e. g. would be a very very secure password not crackable in centuries for current hardware. 😜
(maybe a bit more random)
