Apple did the right thing. If they would have added the backdoor, you would have just had security theater. Now you can just avoid storing data in iCloud.

No, I don't believe so. I think it was actually financial motivated to reduce the cost of investigations. I believe the judicial process of accessing the data remains in place. They were just trying to get data that they could actually use for an investigation. #beancounter #unintendedconsequence
