In Junior High I had a friend who was seriously into horticulture. I used to use the irises in her bulb catalogs as inspiration for my eyeshadow looks (it was 1987.)
Hairspray, yes - but I already have wide shoulders, so shoulder pads made me feel like a linebacker. So I (at age 13) tore them out & used them to pad my bra instead.
Maybe you can help me understand why my mini irises haven't bloomed in 2 years? They split off from a plant at my grandma's and hers stopped blooming too? 2 years of blooms then nothing for 2 years.
Are the bulbs still there? A wet winter can rot them or things dig them up and eat them. Alternatively, If they are still there maybe they've multiplied in a too small space and are now too congested to flower? They'd just need lifting and spreading out a bit in that case.
So you get lots of foliage but no flowers? Thats good news, free bulbs! In the green is the best time to lift and divide, they might not flower this year but potential for a big display next year.
I hope so. I got these from my grandma who is my family master gardener and the iris is my favorite flower so it's particularly painful that they haven't been showing up.
