Hang on. Not looking to invade another country does not make you democratic. Evidenced by the numerous wars of aggression democracies enjoy.
But the fact remains that the EU in action (rather than words) is not democratic. Power is centralised with unelected officials. Protest is being outlawed.
Protest needs to be protected and people are fighting for that. They are allowed to fight those unjust laws through the courts. Laws can still be changed peacefully.
How many people are allowed to protest in Russia and China? How are those court systems working with dissidents?

Some appointed commissioners might be surprised by that. Especially given their reaction to peaceful protest
Whereas China, Russia, and now the US are interested in expanding via invasion.

Deomocracy means citizens have a share of power and can enact change. That does not mean every official has to be directly elected by the voters.
