Whereas China, Russia, and now the US are interested in expanding via invasion.
Both sides are not the same.
But the fact remains that the EU in action (rather than words) is not democratic. Power is centralised with unelected officials. Protest is being outlawed.
How many people are allowed to protest in Russia and China? How are those court systems working with dissidents?
Deomocracy means citizens have a share of power and can enact change. That does not mean every official has to be directly elected by the voters.
Just because a block isn't Russia or China doesn't mean it's democratic. Just because it isn't attacking other countries doesn't mean it's democratic.
It's how it treats its own citizens that decides it, and the EU is lacking there and getting worse.
