Nope, it's exactly the opposite. Central servers (BGS) connect to all local data servers (PDS) and stream data from them to everyone who wants to listen, e.g. custom feed services. Auth is only needed for writing and for accessing private stuff like mutes, settings, home feed etc.

In Nostr, once you sign a message and send it to a relay, you basically have no control over it. There is no authentication beyond that point. So the note can be spread far and wide and accessed anywhere. Activity Pub isn’t like this though

In theory then, deletes on At Proto are equally as “real” as they are on Nostr. Which is to say that they are “requests” at best

Well, they kind of are on Mastodon/Fedi too, since each post is pushed to the instances of everyone who follows you (and almost always to m.s) and they keep a copy, and then again, when you delete it they get a request to delete that post
