So yummy delish, and you can make them in a slow cooker. If you love to live on the edge, add some seafood boil spices.
First had them when I was 10 as a gift from cousins in Georgia. Then dreamt of them for decades until I realized I could make my own. And they're good for you!
I did make them in a slow cooker!! It was brilliant. I thought I was growing them to make my own peanut butter, but this is a far superior way to use them 😁
Yes, I learned about them because every year I talk about the peanut harvest, and every year a US-expat tells me to try them boiled. And they're right. Hands down the best use of a peanut harvest! I've got a kg to get through this week though, which may already be ambitious 😅
I always thought peanuts could be eaten raw - I remember mum buying them when I was a kid… but today I heard that they need to be cooked. Now wondering what mum bought.
You can buy them raw, but they've got a bitterness to them and the skin isn't great either. I don't think they're poisonous, just not tasty. A quick roast or very long boil makes them tasty. Boiled peanuts are supposed to be cooked fresh, a lot like edamame.
