This is a video that I didn't watch, but the question in the thumbnail got me thinking. For, in my mind, I would say that both of these movies are underwhelming at best and awful at worst. However, if I were to pick one over the other, which one would I rather watch? - ThreadSky

From the way I see it, it's not so much the general strokes that make these movies, but rather the little things. As in, they don't work as complete pieces, but they might work out better if you were to look at them from a specific angle.

As in, if you go in expecting Hollywood-level competency...

... you're obviously going to have a bad time. These are movies based around online celebrities, so you can't really expect much besides a longer version of what you're already getting in a much smaller format.

Sure, it would be nice if it went beyond that, but do you expect it to happen?

Obviously, one positive thing I can say about both of these movies is that they are made by very passionate people. You know what these people are about, and you also appreciate the fact that they were finally able to make something like this that still garnered a wide mainstream appeal.

But then comes the problem: these are movies about Internet celebrities. That's a very niche group of people. You might tune in out of curiosity, just to see how such a project would shape up and develop...

... but take Kickassia as an example. If you're not invested in the works of Spoony, Linkara or Nostalgia Chick, you're not going to care much for this huge ensemble in the Channel Awesome-specials. You might tune in for maybe one or two people.

The rest? Not so much.

this part in particular really does the other producers dirty because they've gone on record, especially in the not so awesome document, that their "characters" for the most part were written to just be another shade of the NC's character, which would be a problem moving forward. which is funny-

I mean, there's like 20 or so people in this movie (discounting the cameos), and almost none of them registered to me. I mean, it's going to be hard to juggle that many characters in an hour and half long movie, but the way they went about trying to give each one their fair share of screen-time...

THAT is a very good point.🤔 As someone who was mostly a fan of the Critic & Nostalgia Chick at the time Kickassia was released every scene they weren’t in had my eyes glazing over which looking back really wasn’t fair to the other contributors.

This coming out was pretty much the end of me consuming this kind of content. I liked when it was a weird crossover the reviewers were doing because they met up at a con or something, but once it started to get over ambitious without really feeling like they had a point I just got bored.

That's completely fair, tbh. That's where it stopped being fun for me too; when they just tried to make something feature length, yet it was infinitely less fun to watch than the stuff they've made a living out of mocking.
