The @libdems.org.uk proudly back British farmers. That's why we oppose Labour's move to introduce a family farm tax, which will put the future of these important businesses - and our food security - at risk. If you agree, then join our campaign to axe the tax: https://www.libdems.org.uk/farm

Why should James Dyson get to avoid IHT on his £0.5bn of farmland?
A more nuanced position would be to raise the threshold to £3mil.
If it stops the super rich buying up land as a tax avoidance scheme then great.
Is there a way to do that which doesn’t actually impact farmers at all?
I thought this party was about fairness when I joined. Was I mistaken?
Sums:
Drop stamp duty on modest homes something farmers haven't paid for generations from 250k-125k
+Pensioners fuel allowance
+Farmers IHT after IHT loopholes/life insurance = not much more than day out in city to show up losing party
Jeremy Clarkson was quite open and blatant about why he bought a farm. To avoid inheritance taxes.
If you support this you are wrong.
I understand farmers being pretty disgruntled, it's a shame they, and you, don't blame the real reason for the threat to British farms and farmers - which is, of course, #Brexit and silly Tory trade deals
At least we know what you party stand for.
