I taught for 30 years.
It's not for everyone.
It usually entails 60 hour weeks minimum counting all of the after hours planning, meetings & school events.
There actually is a science to learning. The studies are always ongoing. There are many different kinds of learners. Good luck untrained people.

I deeply respect good teachers. But there are some really bad ones out there. Many people choose that career because they can't think of anything else.
To make and retain excellence they need to be paid well AND watched carefully.

I think, especially as it relates to politicians with decision making powers over education, they should be required to spend a couple weeks a year substitute teaching.
Classroom management, parent communication, curriculum, working with admin - all of it.
What a great eye opener that would be!
