I disagree with a minor assertion in your third paragraph, that dismissing “retro” movies isn’t a thing. It’s just anecdotal, but my sister and her friends are about five years younger than me and I’ve routinely heard them say they won’t watch movies from before the mid 80s because “they’re slow.”
