Today's earthquake is a great reminder to assemble *both* an emergency kit *and* a grab-and-go bag.

You don't have to do it all at once. You can just start collecting items and building them up.

Nice. I really started taking this seriously when we had to pack for wildfire evacuation. I'm building more extensive kits now, adding road maps, more first aid supplies, food, etc.

My daughter does back country hiking and the ideal for sending texts in an emergency via satellite is a Garmin messenger. But you still need a subscription. I've also got walkie talkies on my list. There are smaller/portable solar generators available these days although they're not cheap.

I saw the Garmin. I like the idea of walk-in talkies. I can see that being very useful. The portable generators are expensive… might be that last item I add, hoping they become more affordable. Nice getting some ideas from you 🙏 , chatting about this
