it would be more of an atproto V2 or V3, realistically, and require dev community effort and research. not in scope for this initial team unfortunately, we brainstormed it and couldn’t get to a good solution

Haven't looked into how blocks work yet so apologies, but assuming that right now it's just a list of did's stored on the account doing the blocking all you need to do is:
The downside to this is your won't have a clearly visible list of who you blocked, but that could also be solved with a second list that can only be decripted by your account's password.
blocks won’t be the only load-bearing moderation feature we’re adding though, so there will be ways to subscribe to lists that block people without showing you personally mean to block them

For full privacy you want the reverse. Private account with whitelist rather than public account with blacklist
StrongHashingAlgorithm (did:of:blocker + did:of:blocked).
Now the list is unreadable and when the blocked tries to read...
