That's weird, because 5e seems weirdly complex to me, and I started with 3e. I think it's the huge uptick in abilities and the subclasses that get me. The game is already mostly about exceptions (most class abilities let you break a core rule in some way) that just makes it so confusing.

I like the subclass structure for specialization for its simplicity. Obviously, since 5e is less crunchy, the customization takes a hit 1/
Honestly, my biggest problem with D&D is not with the game but with the company. Seems like they’re just being a-holes. Which seems really counter productive.
I never really got into card games, they’re obviously fun but the medium doesn’t sing to me.
