Data centers in our region will double our utility bills, require more power lines, and take away green space and water. We need a better plan moving forward, and the people deserve a voice.

ANY large commercial facility, regardless of purpose, should need to provide for whatever resources it will use, including electric power and fresh water, both of which are used in prodigious amounts by data centers. More jobs & tax base are great, but not if they come with excessive hidden costs.
It's possible, but very expensive. They need to EVAPORATE the water to provide cooling, and unless you do that with very clean water, stuff precipitates on the equipment and fouls it. Same issue with power plants, refineries, any large facility that needs lots of cooling.
Data centers need to come in with plans for new green energy installation to cover their own power and water! Bonus if they overbuild to support the local community, instead of always expecting residents to subsidize them.

Let's invade Greenland.
Problem solved.
We haven't heard anything like that here in a long, long time!
