Want to be the tank, dps, and healer in your party :D play warrior with an awesome battle axe we are all rounders. With great self sustaining for big pulls and, you might solo kill the boss if your party is down and your the last one standing o/

There's no wrong choice and the game allows you to change at any time so feel free to try things out. Anything DPS will hit long queue times when you hit the level for it.

That being said I really enjoy summoner. It's really straightforward, very mobile, and does a good damage as a ranged caster.
Warrior is also really fun and flashy as a tank. Really fun and can fully heal themselves through their flashy attacks.

I forgot to mention that Summoner would be Arcanist as a starter, and Warrior starts as Marauder.

The DPS mage classes can be a bit harder for new players, but archer and lancer are typically fun for them!! I wouldn't suggest trying tanks or healers out till u feel more comfortable with the game as they're a bit intimidating at the start :3

If you like ranged magic, def either Thaumaturge or Arcanist!

You'll be able to learn any class you want once you hit level 30, so feel free to experiment!

I might be biased BUT Lancer is the coolest Melee and you get to jump around a lot in battle at later levels 😎 plus , dragon aesthetic at later levels

I just saw tho you’re usually a fan of ranged which in this case I’ll shill my wife’s fave - Archer/Bard. All ranged. All vibes. You play songs and your friends hit harder. It’s pretty good

Ooo black mage is fun and flashy! It’s the least mobile class (until you get to know it’s kit and mechanics for fights) but it makes up for it with explosions lol
Ultimately, you can always pick up both! FFXIV is nice that way

As a 14 vet I will say there is no wrong class to start with! Once you hit level 10 and complete your level 10 class quest you can pick up every other starting class immediately and swap freely!

However I will say to maybe avoid Thaumaturge solely for the fact it's leveling experience sucks.

But all the classes are viable still!

The best way for me to choose is which vibe do I want and what role I want to go for!

After some progression you can also pick up other classes, so don’t feel like you’re locking in for the long run.

Hitting things hard then melee classes r good :3
If ur a fan of hitting things and moving then archer is good

If ur a fan of casting spells then thaumaturge and arcanist r good :3

Dragoon is so much fun!

Fucking up is also so integral to the role their alternate title is floor tank so it makes for good content

White mage gave me a God complex 10/10

Seeing a bunch of other people saying black mage, and I would probably agree with them since you like ranged dps, but I'm also very partial to dragoon, nothing feels better than jumping so high you're out of frame and hitting a giant meteor smash on some monster lol

Feel it out, your first class is gonna be the class you play for a minute. Feel what you think is right and just enjoy the game! Prepare for the first part as it is slow, but once you are done, it ONLY gets better!

If you want something fun, hit easy, start arcanist and go into summoner

Late game you get some really flashy bullshit

And if you want “guy with stick” you can go lancer into dragoon 🤍

As a paladin main I’m slightly biased but every class is lots of fun. Honestly just pick something that looks cool and see how you like it. You can always change class at any time and lvling up is very easy!

I personally I'm a bard because: gay (and you get to play instruments at some point with your keyboard and it's fun JEKSHSH)

but you can totally change your class whenever you feel like it!!!!! you just got to go to its respective guild and unlock it :3
