Rewatching the 13th doctor's era really drives home how massively overblown some critiques were. Sure, it wasn't brilliant, but neither was season 7 in the Moffat era and that never got the same amount of vitriol.

It really is okay on rewatch when you're not vibing out of your skin from excitement and/or dread for what utter nonsense is going to happen this week. I want it to be awesome, of course, but it's okay.
Yeah, when it first aired I was so disappointed after her first season and I really wanted to love it. Now I'm able to enjoy the good parts and just mildly roll my eyes at the things I don't like. And there are some good stories and moments. But online discussions about DW are veeeery polarized 🙈
Some storylines are quite well done imo, but the Chibnall era missed the mark when it came to writing interesting characters. There are a couple likable ones, but it stays too much at a surface level.
