Went back and looked at a sample of NYT OP pieces the months before the election and while they never outright lied and stated the economy was bad, they almost exclusively ran pieces like “The economy is good, here’s all the reasons America thinks it’s bad.” It’s because negativity=clicks=ad revenue

I can link you to the final Selzer poll from 2016 - the one which accurately showed trump swinging the state 15 points to the right from Obama in 2012; almost 3/4 voters said very similar things to what we are complaining about with this recent election ie not acknowledging vast economic progress

this actually wasn't the final poll but the one 1 month out from the 2016 Election; but note the massive, massive discrepancy between voters saying they were optimistic about IOWA but not about the Nation - does that sound familiar? We saw that with economic polls of states for the past 3 years

I just finished Rachel Bitecofer’s book “Hit ‘em Where It Hurts.” It’s a good blueprint for Dems.
