Paying taxes is as good as your government is at any given time. A lot of people don’t like their gov as of late.

For me the worse governments are always the ones who want to lower taxes, which ultimately only benefits the rich.

Is it possible to tax too much? If it is, then reaching that point and then lowering the tax later, would be a good thing.

It depends who you are taxing. If you decrease taxes for poorer people they tend to spend the extra money, thus boosting the economy.
The richest people tend to pay little tax because they have fancy accountants. If you lower their taxes they just hide the extra money away.
