I've lived in the US for two years. People seemed happier, more autonomous. Sweden was pretty good 20 years ago, as were other non-socialist countries in Europe, but then we had a smart and homogenous population.

Rather like Swedish supremacy :) We were almost as good as the Japanese, and more creative. Don't feel like bragging but it was essential to the discussion. Its not socialism that made Sweden prosperous, its Swedes.
yes ofc. u cant credit socialism entirely. its ultimately the population. a lot of countries are socialist but not prosperous, i agree. it defo is the swedes.
sadly, hedge fund for the autocrats is what it is in most countries. difference in degrees. the nordic countries perform much better, whereas- countries like mine are failing. all in the people and resources. mixed economy is still 100x better than capitalism tho.
Not the reality for the bottom 20%.
We've been in survival mode for a long time.
The main way I would expect to die in a Trump admin is not being able to afford my many asthma meds.
I get that provided by local, state, federal funding right now.
It's over $1000/month, if I bought it myself.
but like yea sure usa is great if u already have some capital. ease of business and the infra, the resources are top notch. great space to grow. i mean its america for a reason so ill give u that. but overall? sweden has better quality of life wont u say?
yeah. usa is not entirely capitalist yk? it has a lot of socialist elements. insurance, education etc. and america has huge inequality btw. maybe u just saw the upper middle class and the rich. your nation has a lower gini coefficient. meaning the avg population is better off in sweden than the usa

Socialism must mean building social programs and institutions governed by a stable democracy.
Without being coupled with democratic governance, socialism devolves into a hedge fund for autocrats
