People like to compare Hamas and Palestinians with holocaust Nazis to not do the comparative opposite. It's part of the ideology that "Israel can't cause genocide because they were in a genocide".
Incidentally, the famine created by Israel is probably why the hostages were undernourished. They were eating the same food as the Palestinians, and there wasn't exactly a lot to go around.
