Yes agree. Not a panacea. Causing huge problems for beginning teachers' emerging understanding of why, what & how we teach history. Stifling innovation & removing agency. Steps can be taken to mitigate this but the bookletisation of the history curriculum has been quite damaging in some quarters.

A really interesting blog. I've never worked in a MAT, or even an academy so I have no personal experience of what you discuss, but I do appreciate the freedom and autonomy that I've always had to design my own history curriculum that makes the subject meaningful for my own students.
