In 5th grade, we had an in-class science fair. One of the students had a father who was an electrician.
The kid opened his "Short Circuit" presentation while wearing thick gloves and holding two metal poles wired with extension cords. Plugged both poles in at the front of the room.

I sat in the front of the room. When I could see again, the power was out. He'd caused a blackout in a couple of classrooms and the hallway.

The school was built at a time when wiring/outlets didn't prevent it. (Basically we went to school in a deathtrap. Yay, NYC.) We were lucky he didn't start a fire.
Kid got suspended. His dad got a Stern Talking To by the school principal.

I always hope for the best in people.
But I also never underestimate how dumb, lazy or malicious they can be either.
