As I have said Republicans have been ushering in fascism for the last 40 years and it is finally here wrapped in a McDonald's wrapper holding a Diet Coke
The history of the moral decline and ethical fall of what used to be the Republican Party really is a history of adding undesirable and unpatriotic groups. Racists with Nixon's infamous "Southern Strategy." Religious nuts with Reagan's anti-abortion crusade. Libertarian cryptobros with Krasnov.
There is a core of Dem leaders who resist this notion because it means they will have to get uncomfortable and do work--Schumer is the poster child for this, but he's not alone.
I was raised in a super indie-fundie church and an a.c.e. school, at least until they kicked me out, during the 70s-80s satanic panic. I remember all of the propaganda, what they taught in that school, and what they didn't. Those lines lead directly to where we are now.
100% And I’ve never been able to comprehend how everyone voting for them didn’t see this. Sadly, I think many did. This is the only place this was ever going to go.
This is who they always were and now have the power to do the things they want kill medicare. Social Security. DOE. Trump died today. It wouldn't change Vance do the same thing
Historically, republicans have been all rhetoric. Pretty ugly site to see their populist ideological eggs hatch. Their lies are destroying them and taking our democracy with them.
I still think current Republicans are on the hook for:
Decreasing national security, hurting business, increasing spending, increasing taxes, hurting law and order, centralizing political and economic power, undermining family values, etc.
Only promise I see them upholding is racism and misogyny.
But to avoid unrest or implosion, is all this talk about external threats and taking/annexing/invading other sovereign countries a strategy to somehow unite the country in a warped common cause?
May I respectfully disagree with this assessment? While I do agree that the right wing has definitely moved in a troubling direction since Obama's election in 2008, I do think the phenomenon of trump/musk is something different and much worse.
I would say that trump/musk administration is not the old normal republicanism, it's a more fanatical, take it to the nth degree extreme cult of republicanism, unchecked by concern for staying true to the Constitution or any other Rule of Law!
And I'll also add, the "moderates" and/or "centrists" who said things like "well they have a point we need reform," this is the end result of your thoughts as well.
I agree with this. But my frustration is that I'm realizing so many Dem politicians are no different bc they don't really care about Americans. They sit back passively while our country burns rather than standing up for us. That makes them no different from R which is so very disappointing.

They've just turned it up to eleven.

Hijacking this handy plan that the Bene Gesserit had planted seeds for, over the centuries.
The RW ripening the R party for fascism was apparent.
Trump saw it and knew what could be done.

Yes they now see the problem, but it was their thinking, m.o., ideas that brought us here.

That’s the scary thing.
Surely not everyone or all states will go along?
