My son discovered a game called Rivals within Roblox and I played it with him this weekend. Turns out, it's actually shockingly fun. Feels like CSGO meets Quake or something. It's super fast arena based deathmatching, basically, but with loadouts.

My son has just started to get into fps. We've played Halo and Halo 2 coop and now we're exploring competitive games with Friends VS Friends (which is awesome btw).
Roblox is a no for us due to the mtx and other stuff but this game does look neat.
I understand that. He mostly stays clear of mtx and it has been largely positive. The main thing about Roblox is that when kids get into creation within Roblox studio, they can how to design in 3D and learn basic scripting which has been awesome to watch.
For sure. My son unfortunately inherited my adhd so mtx just makes me feel like he's missing out and he has zero self control over those type of things, same as me!
He engages with Dreams, Scratch and the Switch Garage game making stuff and adores it!
What's also interesting is that he uses strategies that remind me of Quake - rocket jumping, using weapons as propulsion and lots of aerial tricks. This game has allowed him to hone his mouse aiming to an impressive degree too. We had a lot of fun especially in 2v2.
i haven’t looked at it in years, but totally recommend checking out phantom forces if you’re on there too. it’s a shockingly apt battlefield clone. despite its humble appearance, folks get up to some crazy stuff on that platform
Might see how my daughter gets in with this. She plays Roblox every day, but usually stuff like Dress to Impress. She is used to playing with keyboard and mouse though so maybe she’ll take to it!
It's been difficult to get my son involved with anything that isn't Sonic related on Roblox, so will see what he thinks about this as it seems genuinely interesting.
It's been really interesting seeing you learn about Roblox through your son. Easy to dismiss it when you have a literal library of games he could play but super wholesome to engage with him

Sorta thing that if he played with friends and they had a skin he wanted he'd be compelled by the forces beyond to have it too ya know.
