On January 11, 1988, the Mets announced they would retire Tom Seaver’s legendary #41. Seaver, a franchise icon, led the Mets in wins (198), strikeouts (2,541), starts (395), and complete games (171). He became the third Met to have his number retired. #vintagemetshistory
