It's how the Scots elect their local councillors. What I don't understand is why they don't use the counting machines- It's EXACTLY THE SAME electoral system

I think except for February 1974 and the 2010 election, the UK election has always been decided in a few hours.
Even in the last hung parliament In 2017, Labour never had the numbers to form government.

We knew who the new government in the UK would be 5 mins after the polls had closed on July 4th. I could argue we already knew as soon as the Election was called, it was just a matter of how big the Labour majority would be. Yet the media talked about Reform all night. They got 5 seats.

I think your election was destined to be less intriguing than ours regardless of whatever electoral system was being used, just because the swing to Labour was so big.

And that airtime needed to be filled, and the Reform story filled that niche.

Perhaps. Though for the record, we would far rather have watched a liberal in his late middle ages do watersports etc all day than be subjected to weeks of the frog man. The media knew that too but chose the politically biased option.

The story said Reform were a new party that came from nowhere. They weren't they were the Renamed Brexit party simply snapping up more Tory votes this time.
