The left are always up against the media. Johnson was supported by the right wing press, who make up about 80%, however he behaved. A labour leader has to bend over backwards and it’s still not enough. It’s an achievement just getting elected, but that was mainly down to the rise of reform anyway.
This labour government is an odd result of the drift towards the far right. Next election we’re fucked. The mob will be out in force, probably financed by nazi Musk, who is already setting the agenda in UK politics anyway.
Um, liberals *are* to the right. You’re asking leftists to ignore liberals and try to push those even farther right to the left? Maybe liberals should kill the fascist within and *join* the left instead of always working hand in hand with fascists to *punch* left.
Is it too much to ask leftists to recognize the practical implications of sitting by and allowing the GOP to assume power despite the alternative not being left enough? Most people are centrists and liberals are just the left-leaning variety so it's pretty mindless to expect them to be partisan...
... If some of the rhetoric is to be believed, there is almost a sense of schadenfreude amongst leftists with what is going on. I shouldn't have to remind you, however, that leftists/communists/marxists are usually the first people to get rounded up by people like those now in power...
... The Right has the trademark on "owning the libs" so what did the left gain through refusing to vote in order to keep what is happening from happening?
I don’t know who you’re talking about not voting, specifically, but Dems didn’t turn out for Kamala. They just didn’t. So why are leftists to blame for the Dems’ failure to motivate their party?
The only people I’ve seen gloating about what’s going on are Trumpers and liberals, frankly. The leftists I know irl and follow on social media are doing the work they’ve always done — educating, building community, and finding ways to help.
No, I don't mean gloating. I mean schadenfreude. One of the biggest ways to help would have been to cast a vote capable of preventing what we are dealing with now. I've seen as much anti-liberal rhetoric as I've seen anti-leftist rhetoric and it just makes absolutely no sense to me.
You can’t have it both ways. Leftists can’t be responsible for Trump winning again while also being unimportant enough that Dems can ignore them. Dems lost the election all on their own, despite many leftists still voting for them. If they want to win, they need better policies.
... everyone is entitled to their vote, of course, and I understand many of the various individual motivations for voting one way or the other. I'm just trying to rationalize those who despise what the modern GOP embodies but still couldn't be bothered to vote against it. Liberals, leftists, etc.
Sorry, I don't mean leftists as a voting block. I'm not sure you could accurately quantify that, anyway. I was thinking about individual leftists - when it comes time to check the box - deciding to vote 3rd party despite the implications. I was more interested in how anyone could dismiss this...
So, again, asking leftists to ignore people to the right of them in favor of “pushing to the left” people who are ostensibly further to the right than libs. Why? So libs don’t have to confront their own culpability? Leftists punch left. If libs don’t want to get hit, they should stop moving right.
And what would happen if liberals got out of their own way? There’d be too many leftists for it to matter. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Instead, they want to attack leftists.

The left dont own the media.
I am really sick of the leftists not going after the right and trying to push them left.
