Thats me with the movie Wish. Makes me sad because I loved ideas from it and its concept art! I know its suppose to be based on a watercolor storybook, but that paired with its story telling makes it rather plain. (I guess I could say?) For me its a hit or miss

oh yeah wish is a whole situation. every time i look back at it its somehow visually worse than i remember... lack of depth & motion blur big offenders there. also the watercolour angle being kinda the incorrect choice since the films theyre allegedly calling back to used oils for bg?? (1/2)

as for the story ive only rlly heard the situation thirdhand but it sounds viciously uninspired.
+ 1 thing ive had major gripes w in recent disney is a lack of B plot to make things feel less like a sequence of events w no momentum or depth and it sounds like this is the worst case scenario of that

Mmmm, now that you mention it I think you're right. I didn't even realize there is no B plot! Ew! Also for the movie, I only heard it through musical clips and through the walls of my school I work at. It makes ME want to fall asleep kinda bored and I have to watch my students! Itsa my job!! (1/2)

Some like Elemental and Inside Out 2 have a better feel to them because they've got a stronger story to match up. But I think the time crunch does kill most of the movies off sadly. :c I found a list and apparently since they started, Disney has 823 movies now???

i first identified the lack of b plot with like. ratatouille and i had like a horrifying realisation that every dis/pix movie i like has either a strong a/b plot split or two protags with defined different goals. and all the ones i "dont like the pacing of" don't. including the 90s stuff even!

i havent rlly payed attention to disneys output for basically the past few years so maybe this is just a frozen 2 problem (i remember thinking encanto looked. nice enough) because its so desaturated (& crunchtime) but damn. all of these character models r so unappealing and all the staging is flat?

also i know this is a dead horse of a point but good god . i do not like these character models. and every time an incidental or hell non-lead character appears on screen im just like. eugh. eugh. why is your skin and mouth and eyes like that. i should probably analyse my disgust properly later

i think it's the weird shrodingers musculature that the character do/dont have. their faces are porcelein smooth 80% of the time (w occasional static fabriclike 'wrinkles' for age). and then sometimes their faces have to tense. and sometimes the muscles show up (jarring!) or don't (somehow worse?!)
