Rabies doesn't have a "near" 100% fatality - it has a 100% fatality.
Over 70,000 people this year alone will die of rabies and there has only been < 20 people, in the entire history of keeping rabies records, who have survived it.
That small a group doesn't move the dial off 100%.

If you get bitten by a rabid animal— you can either trust the science about a virus with near 100% fatality (without treatment), or you can trust some rando on Twitter about the non-existence of viruses.
