That looks ridiculous from Iserbyt but of course, we don't have context.
Bunny hops on the other hand can save you fractions of a second or cost the entire race. I completely smashed a one week old SRAM AXS rear mech last year and had to carry my bike to the finish line.
I on gravel just before a bridge but it turns out the cleat tensioner was too high and it must've looked like I just "abandoned ship" and threw myself to the floor. Still attached to the bike. Only thing broken: my spirit 🤦🏼♂️
that looks like it stings. I have looked at the new magnetic pedals a few times for my Mtbs. I dont have a problem getting off my bike as much as I do staying on it.
The guy in the pic 3 places back from you looks to be unclipping far too early. I reckon if you can get 2-3 steps on the ground before hurdling the barrier, you probably won't lose much momentum
The photo doesn't clearly show it but I have hopped obstacles, got clean air, haven't crashed. But we don't do CX to look good or stay upright all the time 🤗
my gopro got my buddy eating shit trying to hop back in 2019, absolutely perfect timing. right before the crash you can kinda hear me asking him if he’s gonna try to hop it
Last race I was going at a good speed down a longish off-camber muddy grass descent, uphill leg flailing in the wind to try and create a semblance of balance. I was just going past a videocrew, camera close to the ground when a few neurons settled in "slaying it dude, looking gr8". 1/2
Then inevitably the front wheel washed out and I did a spectacular tumble, sliding backwards but face pointing at the camera. Sure I heard the cameraman shout "YEEEESS!". Highlight reel next year...? No doubts. 🤣 2/2

Looks like you were having more fun than this guy.

That is crazy behavior (wheel stomper)

New bike parts find rocks and logs much faster than old ones
