Not into serial killers; the Witch was interesting but stalky ;)
Def dropped:
Partners for Justice, too gory
Shopaholic Louis - v silly
Taxi Driver - too violent
The Whirlwind, boring
Twentieth Century Girl film, Yawn
Vagabond - too violent. Shame
Strong Women: Not a romance or comedy, women helping women, sisterhood, mystery, shouldn't be too violent if I remember correctly, though there is one smaller aspect that you could ffwd if it's too much.
Women-centered, but multiple romance subplots, light crime & mystery, it goes back in time and small town, so it will give you vibes of Reply 1988, but with adults and good friendships. It is not explicit though they open a sex toy business if that is a concern. It's more about women empowerment.
Lack of sex scenes is more due to changing rules for broadcast tv. If it's streaming it can be more sexual; if it's a network broadcast & more conservative rules are in place at that time, then less, so access dictates.
K-movies can be very graphic: violent & sexual, because one has to pay to go or see and there is a rating system in place, so keep that in mind as you watch movies. If the topic seems sexual, it will be greatly so often.
For a costume, historical, humorous kdrama try Mr. Queen. I don't find it funny, but I did really appreciate other aspects of it regardless and enjoyed it, but many find it funny. Some find it didn't go far enough with the gender bending, but it is still considered a very well loved kdrama romance.
I like What's Wrong With Secretary Kim better, but Her Private Life is the next go-to if you liked that one for a rom-com. It's certainly a decent and well-loved contribution to the romance genre.
For "sci-fi" sort-of in a rom com try I am not a Robot. The beginning and premise is a bit silly, but it's a lovely romance in the end that many people adore.
Drops help too. We usually like the full list, 'cause then we don't recommend ones that you've already seen. Thx. Got it. I'll try to suss some out from your likes and drops. We're all very different watchers. :) Are you open to youth (high school/young love) or bl recs.?
I liked Study Group and am enjoying Undercover High School, but there's only so many adults dressed as schoolkids I can take. The bullying makes me really upset.
Give me an older Hyun Bin romance any day :)
