I think this meme probably assumes a default position where a person either has enough privilege, and/or support, or has a mind that is already essentially peaceful, or has attained some point of relative peace already.
This is not most people, and certainly not traumatised people
I don't think any of this is a key to finding peace, at least on its own.
Certainly, perhaps the most useful message, is that when things are really bad, out of my control, then the best I can do is the best I can do (the thing that feels emotionally better). That's not inherently peaceful
Not intentionally so, but a bit ableist. It would be nice if we could just control our thoughts. There are plenty of us who, even with many years of practicing both mediation and mindfulness...

"Control" can be a bit of an oversimplistic word to use.
I can control some things, I can influence others, I could in effect control another person, but that'd be against my principles, morals, and values.

That means *you* can't either. So maybe give it rest with trying to tell me what I can or cannot do.
Yes, we might able to use these tools to be healthier than we would otherwise be. Doesn't mean that we can actually control our thoughts.
